The Church of Scotland is Presbyterian in style which means that every parish has a Kirk Session.
The Kirk Session is supported by The Friends of the Cathedral.
In Dunkeld there are 31 elders in all who, along with the minister, form the Kirk Session.
It meets six times a year with extra meetings if required and has oversight of all the work of the parish church. Within the Session there are four working groups:
Worship, chaired by the minister, which plans occasional services for special occasions.
The Mission and Education - which does various things in the community to raise the profile of the congregation and spread the Gospel. Fixed points in its activities are a tent at the Birnam Highland Games and events in the Duchess Anne on Santa Claus day (usually the 2nd. Saturday in December)
The Pastoral Care Group - Amongst other things it has prepared welcome information to take to new people in the parish, arranges visitors for housebound folk and distributes a small Christmas gift to people in homes and hospitals over the festive season.
Finance and Stewardship, chaired by John Gray, as the name suggests is responsible for the financial side of the congregation and the Fabric Group under Wattie Barbour, keeps an eye on the property the congregation owns.
